Hatta Heritage Village
Hatta is a beautiful restored village situated in an oasis in the foothills of the mountains near Oman. It's a great place to see traditional architecture, and exhibits on traditional Emirati life. Plus it's free!
One of the best parts was the Al Husen Majlis, a meeting area where the local ruler would receive visitors. The compound where he lived contains several exhibits on daily life, weaponry, etc.
The site is about 1 1/2 hour's drive from Dubai and is well worth a visit. Don't forget to check out the tiny Hatta Mountain Restaurant after your tour for a cheap and delicious dinner.
