Leeds is one of Yorkshire's largest cities. Words like bold and confident come immediately to mind. A poster where 'promised' was crossed out to be replaced by 'delivered' [Leeds -delivered land] says it all.
Leeds is noted for vibrant nightlife but it has historic interests as well - such as the Armouries Museum [national], the Thackray Medical Museum and two great halls owned by the city - Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall and , not least, Kirkstall Abbey.
Another major feature for visitors is the Sculpture Gallery in the Headrow, near to the Victorian Town Hall. Visitors also love the shopping arcades and the excellent markets as well as the upmarket shops such as Harvey Nichols.
Leeds contains a fine cricket ground at Headingley, the home of the County Club and excellent teams in both types of Rugby [Rhinos in League and Tykes in Union] as well as Leeds United for soccer enthusiasts.
The Leeds metropolitan area includes Harewood House.
NB Leeds Castle is nowhere near Leeds! [edit text][editors]
