Everybody who loves the Yorkshire Dales will know how hard it is to name one place as favourite as a start for walks but, of those who would so venture, many might select the little known name of Norber. The village is very pleasant but if you head up Town Street, a cul-de-sac, where the track crosses another you can get superb walks by heading in any of the three directions or by a 45 degree turn right.
There is paid parking at Crummackdale Farm where Town Street ends if you insist on getting further in with your car. You may well prefer to walk through to Clapham or the Norber erratic boulders to your left or turn right for Moughton Scars.
If you want to walk to Horton in Ribblesdale, check with somebody local first as quarrying has caused significant route variations. [edit text][editors]
