Bethesda is between Bangor and Capel Curig. It's a small town, historically based on the slate industry, rather dilapidated but with little village areas such as Rachub and Gerlan above it providing splendid views over the mountains of Snowdonia.
It's about equidistant with Capel Curig from Ogwen Cottage, where wonderful walks can be taken, north into the Carnedds or south to the Glyders and Tryfan.
