To many people Brixham, less known than Torquay and Paignton and considerably less commercialised, is the most attractive part of Torbay. Historically it was primarily a fishing port, although today this is very largely a memory. It is also the port where William of Orange invaded in 1688 to become William III of England.
It has retained considerable old world charm that the previously mentioned resorts have now lost. Moreover it is very close to the promontory of Berry Head, home of masses of sea birds and a grand spot for cliff-top views.
There is a fine trip right across Torbay by boat from Brixham to Torquay. [edit text][editors]
