Travel guide to Brodick
Brodick is by far the largest place on Arran and is the port for the main ferry from the island from Claonaig, the only year round one. It is set in a splendid bay with the imposing mountain of Goat Fell a short distance north, not far below the magic 3000 feet that would make it a Munroe though arguably not the most impressive mountain on Arran. Lovely Glen Rosa winds up between Goat Fell and Beinn Tarsuinn to the source of the stream below Cir Mhor, which must be a contender for the most impressive. See Lochranza for a walk taking in Cir Mhor and ending down Glen Rosa. Brodick has an impressive castle with a separate coverage on Undiscovered Scotland. You will also find the attractive Arran Heritage Museum – see travel tip.
Arran is the most southerly of Scotland’s west coast islands and one of the easiest to reach from Glasgow or from England. [edit text]  [editors]
