The Upper Wharfedale bus doesn't go beyond Buckden, although Langstrothdale, on the small road that turns left off the main road is actually the same flow. Both roads provide lovely rides to Wensleydale but, unless you are pressed for time, the small road is the best.
The Dales Way passes through Buckden. [www.thedalesway.co.uk]. Buckden Pike, more or less straight above the car park, is a pleasant walk and viewpoint, particularly when snow-covered. There are a number of routes into Littondale and a round trip with a finish along the Wharfe is a good possibility. However one outstanding walk that's not very long is the triangular one between Buckden, Cray and Hubberholme.
