Travel guide to Clapham
Clapham is one of the picturesque villages of the Yorkshire Dales. It is a terrific centre for walks of all lengths and some good ideas [together with a good walking map] can be seen on the excellent village website, http://www.claphamyorkshire.co.uk/walks_map.html.
Particularly recommended are the walk to Norber Boulders and on to Austwick [qv] and the walk up Ingleborough via Ingleborough Cave and the huge pothole of Gaping Gill. On some bank holidays non-cavers can get into htis pothole, courtesy of local club members lowering them in a boatswain's chair. [edit text]  [editors]
