Brigflatts, near Dent

Dent is an idyllic village, cobbles and all, in the Yorkshire Dales, though it is not in Yorkshire, as what was then the new county of Cumberland was given it in 1974. It's quite a way from the Dent station on the Settle-Carlisle line.
Dentdale is much more gentle than many of the Dales and provides some easy walks to start children going. On the other hand, the complete circuit of Whernside [much nicer than the summit walf] is over 19 miles.
