Travel guide to Foyers
Loch Ness is the largest true loch [not sea loch] in Scotland and lies [SE-NW] between Fort Augustus and Inverness. It forms part of the Caledonian Canal, the only single canal to run between the west and east coasts of Great Britain. It is the road to the NW of the loch htat gets all the high speed transport – and those interested primarily in Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster who has two visitor centres at Drumnadrochit.
Foyers is a small village on the other side of the loch. The village and the surrounding area are to be recommended to anyone wanting a bit of peace from the main road traffic in scenery of considerable beauty. It is effectively divided into two parts by a steep wooded slope where waterfalls add substantially to the appeal and there are numerous walks; it is generally safe and quite exciting for children though vigilance is always a good idea. The lower part below the fals is more serene and provides some good views over the loch. [edit text]  [editors]
