Hull is on the massive [by UK standards!] Humber river near to its North Sea estuary. Ferries run every night to the Netherlands and Belgium and Humberside Airport is an easy distance. Even so, it is not in an area that draws the majority of overseas tourists. Its image has changed somewhat recently and it actually reached 15th place among UK tourist resorts in a newspaper survey this century, ahead of Cambridge among other places.
This might seem over the top but Hull does, nevertheless, have some features of real interest. The first two are fairly recent First is the Humber Bridge, a beautiful structure a few miles up river from the centre and the other is 'The Deep.' This belongs to the age of hyper-aquaria and has some features unique in the UK.
Then there are no less than seven free museums, one a ship, and some of the old dock area is now an attractive marina for pleasure craft [edit text][editors]
