Travel guide to Kinlochewe

Kinlochewe is situated just above the end of Loch Maree, although Poolewe and the Isle of Ewe are in the vicinity of [sea] Loch Ewe. Loch Maree is arguably the most spectacular of Scotland’s true lochs, although both Loch Lomond and Loch Ness have their advocates.
Mountains closer to Torridon are covered there but this is the start for Slioch on the far side of the loch, said to be a real beauty and certainly looking it. Lochan Fada is also reached from the far side of the river that flows into the loch, a spectacular place on the edge of what is sometimes called Scotland’s last ‘true’ wilderness. At least three other areas might contest the title but it’s certainly one of them and a fine one at that. It includes the remote and almost unpronounceable peak of A Maighdean [Gaelic for Maiden], more often approached from Poolewe.
There’s a campsite just by the end of the loch, where the stream can be crossed at most times – check first! [edit text] [editors]
