Travel guide to Kirkby Stephen

Kirkby Stephen would be an ideal centre for a holiday. It has a station on the scenic Settle-Carlisle Railway [see Settle]. With a car it provides easy access to Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District and, easiest of all to the north of the Yorkshire Dales.
The town has a number of good antique shops where it's fun to browse, even if you can't afford to buy. [see website below - what to see].
Just south of the town is Wild Boar Fell, a limestone hill quite as good as the Three Peaks further south and far less spoilt. Nine Standards Rigg, left of the road to Swaledale, is a smashing view point.
