A near 2000-year-old city, founded by the Romans in the wake of their invasion of Britain in AD43, Lincoln sits in eastern central England about 40 miles (about 60 km) from the North Sea coast and 150 miles (about 240 km) north of London.
As you approach Lincoln from the south or west you cannot fail to see its major landmark, the cathedral. Very near the cathedral is the castle, site of Lincoln's famous Christmas market, 3 days of glühwein, wursts and crush-level crowds!
