Travel guide to Lochranza

Lochranza, at the far north of Arran, has a summer vehicle ferry [no reservations – frequent] to Claonaig [on the peninsula that runs down to the Mull of Kintyre.] It’s a picturesque village wiht a castle and a distillery. – opened in 1995.
However, if you have any interest in great granite scenery, you must surely be attracted irrevocably in the direction of Sannox. Here, if you are not feeling energetic, you can walk up [not far UP!] Glen Sannox with fine rocky ridges on both sides – and then walk back to Sannox Bay. If you do feel energetic, you’re really spoilt for choice. It would be hard, however, to beat the splendid ridge walk round the mountains on your right to the shapely peak of Cir Mhor in front of you and then down Glen Rosa to Brodick. You would do best to leave your car, if any, at Brodick and get the bus to Sannox to start. See the travel tip - magnificent photos.
