Travel guide to Melrose

Melrose is the most northerly of the border towns with abbeys. If you have a car, there’s no great problem about seeing them all in a day but you might do better to restrict yourself to two, Melrose and Dryburgh. Then you can take your time at Melrose and enjoy strolling about the town and its two National Trust for Scotland gardens.
The Eildon Hills, which are not very high but seem much higher because of their shape and angle to Melrose lend themselves to some good walking.
