"Buried Head" in Lost Garden of Heligan
Within living memory Mevagissey was a peaceful, not overknown fishing village in Cornwall. Although it will never lose its lovely natural setting, it now has numerous hotels and restaurants and far too much traffic.
However it's near to The Lost Gardens of Heligan [see www.heligan.com] and not far from the Eden Project. [www.edenproject.com]
If you regret the fact that Mevagissey is so much changed and you want to see places that are almost as they were before the first world war, some imaginative pursuit of the local Ordnance Survey map should help but they won't stay like that if their names are blazoned on travel sites.
