Travel guide to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
The name isn’t a complete give-away. It would be hard to find a name to convey a picture of the different types of maritime scenery in the Park. Beaches are large and small, resort like and natural, with red, yellow or black sand [no, not mud.] In places there is impressive cliff scenery [Pyllderi and Strumbles Head area particularly comes to mind,] or industrial archaeology [Abereiddy or Porthgain.] Earlier archaeology is represented by Bronze Age cromlechs, impressive in themselves like Pentre Ifan or Carreg Sampson or for their siting [St David’s Head. ]
The village/city of St David’s with its Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace makes a splendid visit and the coast all round here is of a very high standard.
There are lighthouses at Strumbles Head and St Ann’s Head and don’t forget the islands. There are nature reserves on Skomer and Skokholm and historical interest on Caldey Island and Ramsey.
In early summer the wild flowers on the cliff tops are like a carefully laid garden. [edit text]  [editors]
