Travel guide to Poolewe
Poolewe is a magnificently sited place in the northwest of Scotland between Gairloch and Dundonnell. It is at the head of [sea] Loch Ewe [confusingly Kinlochewe is on Loch Maree, one of the largest and most magnificent of Scotland’s true lochs that can be seen by a short walk from the road south of Poolewe.] The following website is basically an advert but it does give some splendid links, which enable you to find out about the surrounding country: www.poolewe.camusnagaul.com/.
Just north of Poolewe lies the garden of Inverewe, owned by the national Trust for Scotland. If you think this is cold country and only very ‘northern’ trees and plant will grow, remember the Gulf Stream flows near here and you will find flowers and trees from tropical climates growing here.
