Travel guide to Rhiw
Rhiu, as a village, is not a lot to write home about. Everything is in its situation but everything is a lot. It's on the south coast of the Lleyn Peninsula in North Wales between Abersoc and Aberdaron. The steep hill up from the long [several miles] beach of Hell's Mouth is temporarily out of action though Rhiw is connected by very minor diversionary roads - just as well since that is also the site of the delectable national Trust property of Plas yn Rhiw. Ohterwise Rhiw can be reached by minor roads from Aberdaron.
On the other side of the road from the village you will find access to the remarkably fine headland of Mynydd Penarfynedd, where you can see so-called Cornish choughs and peregrine falcons. To the left of the road to Aberdaron a minor road will lead you to the path down to a tiny but delightful beach at Porth Ysgo. [edit text]  [editors]
