There are two Richmonds in England. The travel tip for Kew Gardens is for what is properly called Richmond-on-Thames. 'Richmond' on its own belongs to Yorkshire!
It's a lovely old town in Swaledale [see Hawes report]. The castle at the top of the town is the main appeal to many first-time visitors but they may well be attracted back by the general layout of the town, the Georgian Theatre [active] and its museum.
Down the river it's a delightful short and easy walk to Easby Abbey ruins. [edit text]  [editors]
