In the heart of the Cornish countryside is St. Austell, a small market town known as the birth place of the clay industry. Kao-Lin an important ingredient for the manufacture of porcelain and had never been found outside of china this resulted in St Austell becoming the centre of the Cornish china-clay industry.

There are interesting things to discover in the area including the Holy Trinity Church, Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre, St. Austell Brewery, Caerhays Castle Gardens, Pine Lodge Gardens, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and off course the Eden Project. The Eden Project is described as a living theatre – it shows that the environment can be fixed. Originally a clay pit, it is now a giant garden that exhibits plants from around the world.
