Travel guide to Skipton

Skipton is an interesting town, often known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' meaning the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's best known for its old church and its fine castle but locally its street market is something of a magnet and the Craven Museum in the main street is worth seeing.
The Leeds-Liverpool canal runs through the town and there are trips on it.
As its name suggests it's easy to get into the Dales with the famous Settle-Carlisle railway or the bus up Wharfedale in particular. [edit text] [editors]
