The little [one shop] village of Torridon has given its name to the marvellous sandstone seen in mountains, cliffs and stacks over a wide area of northwest Scotland. It is situated on Inner Loch Torridon in an area of outstanding beauty and it does stretch to medical facilities, a church, public toilets and a pub only a mile away, thus meeting the needs of numerous campers and people in self-catering accommodation.
It nestles, looking quite precarious, below the impressive range of Liathach and is close to Beinn Eigh, Beinn Alligin and Bein Dearg as well as the slightly less popular peaks of Beinn Damh and [a real beauty to circumnavigate] Binn na h’Eaglaise.
Torridon has a deer museum, interesting for children but please, please treat it as a supplement and not a substitute for looking for wild red deer. [edit text]  [editors]
