Travel guide to Unapool

Unapool is a sort of nothingness on the A894 just south of Kylescu, where a ferry used to cross to Kylestrome , before it was replaced by a bridge, on the road to Durness. The Kylescu Hotel is a lovely place for a drink and it’s possible to get a lovely boat trip to the top of Loch Glencoul, where there is a high, though narrow waterfall. On the way you pass a heronry.
South of Unapool is the large Y-shaped mass of Quinag, the most northerly mountain of Torridonian sandstone. From the highest point of the road the only difficulty is the first short marshy stretch before you get towards the delightful ridge that joins the summits of the Y.
