Yosemite National Park offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the World. Full of contrasts, the elevations range from 4,000 feet at the valley floor to over 10,000 feetat peak top. Dense forest quickly thins as altitudes climb. Bambi-like meadows stand up against majestic, but barren mountains. Granite monoliths, such as Half Dome, offer challenges to rock climbers and hikers alike. For the less adventurous, a drive to Glacier Point yields panoramic views of the valley, Half Dome and El Capitan. A quick day hike to North Dome allows you to view the valley and Half Dome from the other side. Tioga Pass offers stunning Lake Tenaya, pristine and untouched. The many water falls complete the incredible scenery. A few are Yosemite Falls, Vernal and Nevada Falls, Bridal Veil and Alder Creek. Yosemite is a backpacker paradise with trails ranging from the short but sweet Lake Polydome to the longer but spectacular John Muir Trail. A day, a week or a month, Yosemite is well worth the trip [edit text][editors]
