Kauai is the last island in the chain of eight Hawaiian Islands. It was actually the first island to be discovered by Captain Cook; if he hadn’t seen this island he would have actually sailed right pass the islands, these tiny islands that are stuck in the middle of the largest ocean in the world - the Pacific (I am also lead to believe that this is the location of his death).
The island is separated into five regions – Coconut coast, West side, Lihue Kalapaki and the North and South shores; each with their own characteristics.
Things not to be missed include Na Pali Coast, Poipu Beach Park, Spouting Horn, Captain Cook's Monument and of course Waimea Canyon which is considered the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.
There are so many more things to see and do, like going whale watching, snorkelling, stand up surfing, sea kayaking etc, but this destination is more about enjoying the sun and everything that surrounds the sun. [edit text][editors]
