Eugene is a mecca of alternative lifestyles, and whether you are in one of the alternatives (or your own), you find a respect among the inhabitants who truly believe in live-and-let-live. Tree-huggers, art-lovers, college football fans, etc. all reside in Eugene.
You may notice that people here just go about their own business. Street pleasantries aren't so common, but that doesn't mean that we are unfriendly. Just stop one of us and ask us a question and you can then see how outgoing and helpful we can truly be.

You never run out of great places to eat, and then when you are done, take a bus or rent a bike to one of the many gardens around.
