Canyonlands National Park lies in the State of Utah and is part of the huge system of canyons and National Parks that are formed by the Colorado River and it's neighbours.
There are four districts in this park: the island in the sky, the needles, the rivers and the maze; each with different possibilities and views.
The park is 848 km2 or 527 square miles large! There are plenty of places to explore :-). Some 360,000 visitors a year visit it but you will never think of it being crowded :-).
Island in the sky is easily reachable as a day trip from Moab, when visiting Arches National Park. You can drive to the different view points and go for shorter or longer hikes to explore a bit more.
There are also possibilities for longer hikes with camping or biking or ... this park is great for various kinds of outdoor activities that loads of operators offer from Moab.
