Locally the city is still refered to as Saigon, a name which dates back centuries.

Ho Chi Minh isn't the capital, but the econmical centre of Vietnam; it is very vibrant with a lot of traffic, dust, people, motor cycles; yet in a strange way quite alluring.

The main sights and building of interest are: Notre Dame Cathedral, the Post Office, Central Market and City Hall. These buildings were built by the French when they occupied the country; a lot of the other places to visit revolve around the war including the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum etc, which are all very cheap to enter and gives a good insight into the country's turbulent past.

Also if interest are the Cu Chi tunnels, which are located 30km outside the city. This area saw a lot of action thoughout the US invasion.

The food is very cheap and really enjoyable. [edit text]  [editors]
