Ariego de Abajo - Spain Ariego de abajo is a small village (around twenty inhabitants as maximum) in the mountains of Leon. The priest, built the stairs time ago to call the attention of the people not only to religious matters but for anything that could be of their interest. The curious thing is that the further house is no more than 10 meters away, but he built them anyway. He wanted to feel like the priests in larger towns, and have a church with all it's characteristics!

I love Leon and I shall try to get to Ariego de Abajo; is it accessible by train or bus? antonioagui - Feb, 13 2008 05:02pm David, my friend, arriving to that town is I would say almost impossible by bus. Bear in mind that the town is just about ten or fifteen inhabitants. Apart from a couple of houses, that church is the only thing to see in the town. It was just on the way of a trekking I did in the mountains and that's why I arrived there. It was near a small village called Pandorado, where I was staying.
