Toledo and El Greco are practically inseparable in our thoughts. This museum has many of his fine paintings along with period furniture and works by other artists. The building, carefully restored to the splendour of a mansion of its time, was built for El Greco but there seems some doubt whether he ever actually lived in it.
Other of El Greco's paintings may be seen in the cathedral but the best known of them all, El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz, is to be seen in the Chuch of Santo Tome near to the museum.
