I have been to a number of places with the name of 'necropolis' but never to one that is so literally a city for the dead than this. The design is the same as that used by the Etruscans for the living and it was the dead were believed to have their next life.
I confess I didn't actually see any dead - but then I only saw two living and the place stretches for several kilometres.
