L.S.Lowry is most famous for his paintings of 'matchstick men' and dogs. A more informed view would, with good reason, identify him with industrial landscapes but this tremendous collection of his paintings and drawings shows much more besides.
There are also theatres, a good restaurant and bars.
The building is prestigious and Salford Quays is an attractive area of water. [if the weather is anything less than terrible, get the tram to Salford Quays station rather than the nearer Harbour City.
Just outside a spectacular footbridge leads to the Imperial War Museum [North] in Trafford [qv].
