Submenues are comming back to GLOBO. Some seniors who are with GLOBOsapiens since 2003 know that there have been submenues before, however there was always trouble with browser compatibility. Now with the wide availability of modern browsers this is a relict of the past. Today we are introducing Sub-Menues that help to make navigation on GLOBO more easy and help to grow GLOBOsapiens.
With the availabilty of the sub-menues, more functionality is possible. Here are the current add-ons and changes:
- Report, Member, Picture of the Month lists completly redesigned. Now in the same style as the coresponding content lists.
- Report lists have been redesigned. Blending in with the new style of the member lists.
- Movers & Shakers! Ever wondered what is going on in user rankings? Want to see new names on the list? Here is the solution! Each day we save the actual member rankings and compare them to the ones a week ago. The changes in user rank and points will be displayed inside this list. You can see how many ranks the members have climbed and how many points have been gained. The list will be renewed automatically each morning at 7am GMT+1.
I personally love that list, since it gives members the chance to show up on top, even if they have not reached 5 digit points!
Have fun!
Best regards,
Andy

Andy,
Excellent! Especially the movers and shakers --- “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” Robert Louis Stevenson

Excellent improvement, it got boring seeing just the same people in the top 20 or top pages of the members list, this is motivating not only for for the newer and younger generation but for all those that help most by contributing. Also the award winners were previously pretty hidden, now better viewable. Remember though, GLOBO must not be seen as a "competition" (some members don't like that ) but these features rather as a kind of "recognition". RRG --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

Agreed; excellent altogether and the 'movers and shakers' is realy great.
Although I don't ever write just for points, I think that they are a definite incentive. One thing that sometimes saddens me is how easy it is to get to the top ten pages - no offence to those there; I thought it when I first arrived there as well! - and this may well act as a goad to get more competition and therefore more entries in that part of the table. --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can.

Movers and Shakers is really good to see different faces. Would it be possible to leave out the members ranking number 1 to 5, or maybe number 1 -10. If they are in we still see the same faces as in the ordinary member list.

Thank you everybody for the feedback.
@Marianne: I do not see why we should do this. The ones in the top 10 are the ones that are extreme hard to "move and shake"! Changes in the top 10 are very rare. Look at the points how widespread they are. Currently there is you and Jorge inside the M&S list as you made both a step up in there. That list will change every day so you might fall out there by tomorrow :-)
Basically the list looks at the ranking 7 days ago and if the ranking by today is better than the one 7 days ago you are in. As you can see there are only about <20 changes inside that list.
Best regards,
Andy

... perhaps the stat "gained # points" should be removed? It looks ridiculous when 1 point or a few points make such big changes! Anyway, a very interesting feature. RRG --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

@RR: Removed. Thank you for the feedback. Regarding the small amount, it is in its nature of rankings that 1 point is enough to jump inside rankings. The user might have made several more points before that are not listed until he could make the "jump".

You are right Andy and for that reason I'm a bit sorry you have deleted it. I think it's showing how much difference a few points can make that maximises the incentive effect.
