information about thailand  AyutthayaThailand, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya
The same ruins look very different at night, when the state of disrepair isn't quite so obvious. The ruins had once been open to walk through at night but Enesco has now required that they be closed. The walk around the outside is, none-the-less, stunning.

Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam for during the 15th and 16th centuries but was ultimately sacked by the Burmese.
