Dakhla Oasis - Egypt, Al J¿zah We saw a number of these scattered over the Egyptian Desert. Berbers, Romans and even some Pharonic remains have been found in these sandstone hills. People would take advantage of soft spots in the sandstone and carve out catacombs for the dead.
