Typical Chicalero Encampment's by eirekay

El Mirador Basin Preserve - Guatemala, Petén Along the El Mirador Trail are these Chicalero Encampments. Many are still used today as camp sites for men who harvest palms for shipment to florists and trekkers such as ourselves. They are about the only place to rest along the trail. On the 29km hike between El Tinal and El Mirador, there are 3 of these, falling conveniently at 1.5 hour intervals!
