We will visit Wengen on the nights of September 14th to 16th.
We will travel from Zurich airport ot Wengen on 14th and return on 17th.
We would like to take the train up to the jungfrau glacier on 15th or 16th.
We are both more than 60 years young.
Can someone say what is the most cost effective rail ticket configuration for this travel plan please?

Hugh,
Railtravel in Switzerland is a pleasure. I wrote about it in my Grindelwald / jungfrau report.
http://www.globosapiens.net/travel-information/Grindelwald-2390.html?page=3
We were slightly disappointed with the jungfrau experience, mainly because there were too many tourists even in January. The second part of the trip is not spectacular because it goes through a kind of tunnel and there are no views.

Thank you Marianne
The point you note in your report about the weather at the top being available to view before you choose to travel is very useful. I will not book the travel until the morning we are planning to go up to the glacier.
We might go even if it is overcast as we have never before walked anywhere near a glacier before.

A very good point from Marianne:
Loads of people:
Best avoided by going on an early train
Bad Weather:
For such a huge amount of money, better have the weather be good! There is not much to see and do, if you can't go outside and you might be a bit disappointed.
I found the part with the tunnel fascinating. There are two stops there and you can have a look out from inside the mountain. The tunnel is cut through the mountain top, it's very special.
If you want to go on another mountain, I suggest going on Schilthorn (Piz Gloria) with the rotating restaurant, from there you have a great view.
whishing you great weather!

Great information.
As we will be in Wengen for two full days we will probably try to see both Jungfraujoch and Schildhorn.
The information on Swiss pass is very useful and it will keep down the cost of the Jungfraujoch! --- Hugh

Hugh,
By now you have quite a lot of info so that it may be easier for you to decide. I completely agree with Martin 'Schilthorn' is worth a visit. We found it more interesting than Jungfrau. Grindelwald First is also very nice. --- “I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.” Robert Louis Stevenson

Hi Hugh
As i can see from your latest pictures you have had some sunny days in Switzerland. Have you done the Jungfraujoch?
How was your trip in general?
