Chichen Itza - Mexico, Yucatán This 24 metres high pyramid represents the Mayan calendar, with 91 steps staircases plus a single step at the main entrance (the one at the top) adding up to 365. 18 terraces divide the 9 levels which represent the eighteen 20 -day months. The 9 terraces symbolize the 9 underground worlds. Each side has 52 panels representing the 52 year cosmic cycle, the point at which their 2 calendars, the religious and the secular, coincided and they considered that cycle ended, only to begin a new one.
