CERN is not only the fruit of Dan Brown's imagination in his "Angels and Demons" famous novel.
It does exist as the European Organization for Nuclear Research. It houses the future Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a particle accelerator which will probe deeper into matter than ever before. It will be switched on in 2007.
Free visits of this giant lab are possible and highly recommended to those who are interested in physics.
For further information about visits, refer to the specific web site : http://public.web.cern.ch/Public/Content/Chapters/VisitCERN/WhatIsVisit/WhatIsVisit-en.html.
