There are so many ideas I have, also how to promote the web site. 1) I'd like to be able order GLOBO posters, calenders, mouse-pads, postcards and even coffe-cups. This is very easy, Andy need creat an account at DeviantArt (or another) and upload the content to DeviantArt. They do all the oders, printing and shipping, Andy (or the artist/photographer) gets 10% of the turnovrer. We could use CouchSurfing for free accomodation. Andy should sponsor a barge down the Isar river? I am willing to organise it. 4) We need this for our references on other sites and blogs so that a link (URL) will work everywhere forever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permalink 5) we always hoped Andy would install a "tagging" system for pictures now that the gallery is getting so large. Useful older pictures get lost in the masses :-( We can already search geographically by place but imagine being able to search by subject like castle, lion, bushman, flower, cactus, eclipse, carnival, scuba, aircraft, music, streetart .... I tried doing this by "themes" but it is too much work! 6) The "groups" are very inactive and hidden. We are ONE group? How about going back to the "Forums" structure/format we had before? 7) Rating is very important. One quarter of pictures uploaded the last year during my absence were never rated even once! I am willing to catch up with rating everything but the list of never-rated pics must be eliminated first. I have thought of more ways that we can promote GLOBO, I hope that Andy can tell us what is possible and what isn't and how much time he has for this website among his other projects. There is a new competing travel site http://backpackersgalaxy.ning.com/ I assume we have enough head start and that they will be limited to Sub-Saharan Africa but there are some interesting features there like uploading of videos (we wouldn't want clips more than 3 minutes) and connections to the social networks. Not all good, I don't like their idea of allowing business accounts... Our traffic according to Alexa.com is doing well but rating is horribly down as the internet grows. Remember to use links leading to GLOBO where you can and in blogs/PMs too. If the URL is too long then use www.tinyurl.com to get a shorter link... We need tips on how to keyword best. How does Google find our images? Why do we have so many fans in India (15% :-)? Does anyone have more ideas of how to promote the site? Could we have a link to it in the left-hand menu too? 11) The left hand menu should be extended generally to show up to 9 "Online" members and how many guests (guests could be just a random number based on Alexa info or between 0 and 99 changing every hour?) Atleast 9 guests must ALWAYS be online so if there are less than 9 (or 3) members online the names guest guest guest appears if less than 9 members are on-line. More counters?
