Wrapped up in Greek mythology, Athens is a wonderful city to spend a weekend, if you have more time it's great to travel further afield. During the height of the summer, it can get really hot and very crowded, what with the traffic, pollutions as well, but this shouldn’t detract from what a magical place Athens really is!
Athens, famed for being the birthplace of the Olympics and the Acropolis – the Sacred Rocks is like no other city on earth. There are many temples, parks to see and areas including Plaka, the old town, which has many wonderful shops, cafes and restaurants. There are also many museums that are worth visiting as they are rich in history.
Some of the places to visit include: of course the Parthenon, a visit to Athens isn't complete without going there, then Syntagma Square – where you’ll find the President's residence, Omonia, Agora, Zeus Temple, Plaka, Monastiraki Flea Market, National History Museum, Byzantine Museum and Panathinaic Stadium.
