High Altitude's by gurneyp

Vail - United States, Colorado At 11,000+ ft, the simple act of jumping out of the snow bus and snapping this shot winded me. At the point where my lungs could no longer keep pace with my legs, I turned for the shot. "Darn, I'm facing the sun", I thought. "Maybe I should position myself on the other side of the snow bus?", I pondered for 1/125th of a second...C-L-I-C-K..-.because there's warm coffee and O2 inside of the snowbus.

Going against the teachings of Photography 101, I dare to point & click towards our most beloved star. I tried this before with luke-warm success: http://www.globosapiens.net/gurneyp/picture-soo-lock-tours-56362.html This time around, the snow reflected/scattered the sun's light very well. I had to open up a few f-stops. I wonder if pointing a digital camera at a fireball could damage the camera's electronics over time. -GurneyP- horourke - Feb, 06 2010 01:02pm Yes indeed you have demonstrated the difficulty and the solution with complete clarity. I would not worry about pixel fatigue or burning in or any other esotheric damage arising- I find cameras always get dropped or drowned long before electronic / media issues become a problem
