Palmyra, Temple of Baal's by hieronyma

Palmyra - Syria, ‘im¶ Palmyra, the centre of the realm of the Queen Zenobia, the beautiful and intelligent woman, who fought Rome, is an large-scale town in the desert at the crossing of silk roads. The Temple of Baal, seen at noon in the light of the sun seems to be a living being. The sand in the air blurs the contours and the visitor gets the impression that he isn't alone, as if the people, who once lived here, were still praying to their gods.
