The Feldkapelle/Bruder Klaus Kapelle, a surprising building in a field near Mechernich-Wachendorf, was built out of thankfulness for a good life by the family Scheidtweiler in cooperation with architect Peter Zumthor, Switzerland. It was erected in memory of Nikolaus of Flüe (1417-1487), farmer, father of ten, alderman, judge, hermit in the valley of Ranft, Switzerland, whose concern in life was God's praise and peace in the world. It is a place of prayer and meditation.
Open: in summertime: 10.00-17.oo, in wintertime:10.00-16.00, Monday: closed
