Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona |

|
The Petrified Forest National Park is situated between Holbrook and Navajo, divided by Interstate 40 in a northern area, called the Painted Desert, and a a southern part, where – besides petrified wood – you’ll find several American Indian petroglyphs, i.e. the Newspaper Rock, and ancient Indian Pueblo ruins The park tells us about life on earth at the beginning of the Age of the Dinosaurs (225 million years ago). To walk through this ancient landscape is impressive. Not only the colours but also the shapes of the wood, not touched by men, but formed by rain and wind, hold the eye. I’ll never forget the sight.
