Casa del Marino |

There are regular flights to Saint Pierre from Halifax or Montreal, and boats from Newfoundland.
Saint Pierre is France in North America with all the advantages (good food, good wines, croissants, pate and delicious cheeses), but also with all the disadvantages (everything is outrageous expensive). I arrived in winter and could not sleep in the beach and the cheapest accommodation, after bargaining, was 30 euros with breakfast in a private house.
Desperately, I found the Casa del Marino, so written, in Spanish, frequented by Spanish fishermen, mainly Basques.
Since in my adolescence I worked in a shipping company in Rotterdam and still conserved the sailor’s card, I was allowed to go in and sleep in a dormitory for free.
I saw a Jai Alai from the Basques, the first colonizers of the islands. In Saint Pierre et Miquelon flag there is a "IKURRINA" from the Basque Country.
Miquelon Island is much bigger than Saint Pierre, but much less populated.
The inhabitants are very friendly
