Bratislava, the small capital of the small Slovakia, has seen some significant lifting and restoration effort to make its old town look pretty again, after the years of underinvestment during the communist and early transformation times. I had not seen the city since 1986, and I liked what I saw in 2009... The weekend I chose offered mixed weather. Some sunshine in the morning and misty and showery evenings. The renovation projects have not yet all been finished, including the prominent castle (which features on Slovak euro coins), which was still closed for visitors, although the gardens and ramparts were open and admission was free. Bratislava is becoming prettier and is nicely compact for wandering on foot everywhere and the uncountable bars, pubs and clubs cater for socialising and mingling with the both the locals and travellers. This album is just a collection of snapshots I took. In the sequence exactly how I saw the city in the three days between 7th and 9th November 2009.
