One of the greatest sites in Iran and possibly one of the most important. For the tomb of Darius I the Great, who made Persepolis gorgeous but lost the Persian Empire to Alexander the Great of Macedonia, is located there. A truly spectacular place - the tombs are carved out in a shape of regular crosses in a rock escarpment. There are three in a row and forth at a side. The tombs are decorated by huge reliefs depicting moments of glory and battles. Entry 3,000 rials (€0.20).
